Law School Classes for Practicing Attorneys

The Executive Summer Courses Program at Berkeley Law is designed for practicing attorneys who want to delve into new subject areas, deepen their knowledge of specific topics that pertain to their practice, and advance their careers. Lawyers can register for individual courses in the areas of business law and law and technology, or a package of courses culminating in a certificate. These courses and certificates are offered in-person on Berkeley Law’s campus from mid-May through mid-August 2022.

Eligibility Requirements

  • LL.M. degree, J.D. degree, and/or a minimum three years of professional experience in law-related or relevant field
  • English language fluency as evidenced by a TOEFL score of 100 or higher, or a successful phone interview with a member of the admissions committee (waived for Berkeley Law alumni)

Courses Offered | Summer 2022

Executive summer course participants attend classes along with students in the LL.M. executive track and are taught by Berkeley Law faculty.* Each quarter is three weeks in length. Please see below for dates and times. Course titles are linked to detailed course descriptions.

*Executive course participants attend on a non-degree basis (not matriculated). They do not earn academic credit, take a final exam, receive a grade or an official UC Berkeley transcript.

 

The following courses will be offered in-person at UC Berkeley, as well as online via Zoom recordings, during the summer of 2022, with the exception of Blockchain for Lawyers and Intellectual Property Law (see details below). This list is subject to change.

Certificates

Executive course participants can earn a Berkeley Law Executive Education Certificate by completing at least three courses in one of these two subject areas:

*Blockchain for Lawyers can count toward either a Business Law or a Law & Technology certificate. Please also note that Blockchain for Lawyers will meet in-person for the first session on May 17th only. All remaining class sessions will be conducted online via Zoom. Executive Summer Course students may participate in this entire course online, either via the live Zoom sessions or by watching the class recordings.

Tuition is based upon the total number of units taken. Add up the number of units associated with your desired schedule and use the chart below to calculate your total tuition.
