Ground-Truthing Injustice Symposium

“Ground-Truthing Injustice,” scheduled for February 8, 2019, will amplify the voices of communities experiencing environmental injustice by highlighting the truths of how specific communities are disproportionately impacted by environmental harms and policies. It will bring together students, community members, EJ advocates, and lawyers in non-profit, governmental, and for-profit practices through a day-long symposium at Berkeley Law. We’re delighted to say that Mustafa Santiago Ali, Senior Vice President of Climate, Environmental Justice & Community Revitalization of the Hip Hop Caucus, will give our opening keynote address. Additionally, Ecology Law Quarterly—one of the most-cited environmental law journals in the nation—will publish a special issue on environmental justice following “Ground-Truthing Injustice.” We believe this will encourage academic scholarship on environmental justice.
