Conversations on Civil Justice: Judicial Ethics and the Supreme Court

October 14, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Should U.S. Supreme Court justices be held to the same ethical code of conduct as other federal judges? Is legislation needed to increase the transparency and accountability of the Court? What would be the implications of such legislation? This program will feature Senator Sheldon Whitehouse(opens in a new tab), chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights, and Professor Amanda Tyler (Berkeley Law), an expert on the Supreme Court and author of Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Pursue: A Life’s Work Fighting for a More Perfect Union(opens in a new tab) (2021) (with Ruth Bader Ginsburg). Topics will include the pending legislative proposal, “The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act.”
